March Madness

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there are Nine quintillion two hundred twenty three quadrillion three hundred seventy two trillion thirty six billion eight hundred fifty four million seven hundred seventy five thousand eight hundred and eight possible ways to fill out a bracket sheet for the NCAA Tournament.

For those of you who don't like to read long numbers, that's 9,223,372,036,854,775,808.

For those of you who don't like to look at long numbers, that's a lot of combinations.

For those of you who don't like to think about it, http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball

(I'm pretty sure that number is correct, if I'm wrong, please let me know where I made a mistake)

Zelda

"This [The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess] will be, without a doubt, the last Zelda game as you know it in its present form." (Shigeru Miyamoto, 2005)

At the end of the month you're another month older

I've gotten nothing special to report. It's just been a while and I wanted to post another blog.

Bills

My favorite bill is the water bill. It's a heck of a lot lower than all the other bills.

I work at State Farm now

So, I think this is my third week at State Farm. It's pretty cool so far. Everyone in the actuarial department is obviously a little bit nerdy, but it's worth it when you get to hear a good math joke that only actuaries would understand and/or think is funny.

I've been playing Viewtiful Joe 2 too much, and now I have a headache. I just don't have the video game skills I used to have.

High-Fivin' a Grizzly Bear

So, the last couple weeks have been busy. All good things though.

My new job is pretty great. All my co-workers seem nice and my boss seems like a pretty cool guy. It's really laid back and we're only supposed to work about seven and a half hours a day. We get to pick what hours we want to work, so I get to go home at 3:45 every day.

On top of that, we get to take an hour during work each day to study for actuarial exams which, in turn, if we pass, we get a big raise. And, it turns out, I might already have credit for some of the CAS actuarial exams (it's the VEE courses, for those of you familiar). Once I do the paper work for that, my boss said I'll get a raise for that. So, I might get a raise in just a couple weeks.

So far, it all seems pretty nice. I would definately recommend doing well in college and getting a nice job, so far it's worth it. The best part, though, is that we get to sit around and talk about math all day. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

As cool as the new job is, however, it's still not as cool as High-Fivin' a Grizzly bear.

New Guy

This new guy's been hanging outside my apartment building for the past couple days. He's pretty cool once you get to know him.

I really like "King Kong". I'd recommend it. For anyone that wants to know how to fight three T-Rexes at once while saving a girl, this movie is the movie for you.
