High-Fivin' a Grizzly Bear

So, the last couple weeks have been busy. All good things though.

My new job is pretty great. All my co-workers seem nice and my boss seems like a pretty cool guy. It's really laid back and we're only supposed to work about seven and a half hours a day. We get to pick what hours we want to work, so I get to go home at 3:45 every day.

On top of that, we get to take an hour during work each day to study for actuarial exams which, in turn, if we pass, we get a big raise. And, it turns out, I might already have credit for some of the CAS actuarial exams (it's the VEE courses, for those of you familiar). Once I do the paper work for that, my boss said I'll get a raise for that. So, I might get a raise in just a couple weeks.

So far, it all seems pretty nice. I would definately recommend doing well in college and getting a nice job, so far it's worth it. The best part, though, is that we get to sit around and talk about math all day. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

As cool as the new job is, however, it's still not as cool as High-Fivin' a Grizzly bear.

What makes that even more offensive is the painful relationship of earth and sun which results in you actually heading home at 2:45 every day (my time). That's about halfway through my workday. must... supress... jealous rage....

Actually, my real day is from about 8:30 to 2. The first part of my day I just study for actuarial exams, which I should be doing anyway. And the last part of my day, I go to a training class. Oh, and there's lunch.

Since I know you well, this advice may be redundant: You are a professional; do not view your "work hours" as a maximum. Do a good job regardless of the number of hours it takes to do it.
